A Narayanganj court on Friday sent former city mayor Selina Hayat Ivy to jail in a case over the killing of one Minarul in Siddhirganj.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Moinuddin Kadir passed the order after Ivy was produced in court following her early morning arrest.

Tension flared Thursday night as police raided Ivy’s Deobhog residence. 

Supporters and Awami League activists gathered, blocked roads, and resisted the arrest. 

Ivy initially refused to leave, demanding police return in daylight.

She was eventually detained around 5:45am after overnight negotiations. 

Meanwhile, law enforcers came under attack at Kalir Bazar while escorting her to the Detective Branch office.
