NCP warns of new march if AL not banned

National Citizens' Party (NCP) has warned of launching another ‘March to Dhaka’ protest if a quick decision is not made regarding the ban on the Awami League.

NCP Convener Nahid Islam issued the warning in a post from his verified Facebook account around 8:00pm on Friday (May 9).

He said their sit-in at Shahbagh will continue until their demand is met.

“All forces, regardless of political party, should unite in July on the question of the Awami League and the country’s sovereignty,” Nahid wrote.

He said that blockades have already begun at several points in Dhaka city. “If a decision does not come soon, the entire country will march to Dhaka again,” he warned.

Calling for unity, Nahid said, “Let all Bangladesh-loving forces unite to ban the fascist terrorist Mujibist group Awami League, which stands against the country’s sovereignty, independence, democracy, Islam, women and humanity.”
