The Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) early today arrested Advocate Zeenat Sohana Chowdhury, a leader of Chattogram North District Mahila Awami League, from the Aturar Depot area under Bayezid Bostami Thana.

Zeenat, also the Chattogram Divisional Coordinator of Suchinta Foundation, was picked up around 1:00 am in connection with a case filed over a clash at Chattogram Court premises on December 4, 2023, involving police and followers of Chinmoy Krishna Brahmachari.

The case, filed with Kotwali Police Station, names 29 individuals, including leaders from Awami League, Chhatra League, Jubo League, Swechchhasebak League, and ISKCON, along with 40–50 unnamed persons.

A former CDA member, Zeenat hails from Raozan upazila and had contested for a reserved women's seat in the 11th parliamentary election. 

She is also the chairman of Farmin Group, and a former member of BGMEA and Chattogram Women’s Chamber of Commerce.

Her husband, Md Imran, is currently President of the Florida AL chapter (USA) and a former Chhatra League leader at Chattogram University.
