The High Court is set to deliver its order today (21 May) on a writ petition seeking suspension of the Election Commission’s gazette that declared BNP leader Ishraque Hossain as mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation.
The bench of Justice Md Akram Hossain Chowdhury and Justice Debashish Roy Chowdhury set the date on Tuesday (May 20).
Ishraque was declared mayor following a court ruling that nullified the 2020 election results which had named AL’s Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh the winner.
The EC published the new gazette on 27 April amid legal challenges.
