BNP leader Barrister Rumeen Farhana has said the country will get an elected government by February next year as BNP will form the next government with people’s votes.
She said this while speaking at a workers’ meeting organised by Union Torun Dal at Khoriya Balu Maath in Durghapur union under Ashuganj upazila on Friday afternoon.
Rumeen, BNP’s assistant international affairs secretary, said party leaders and activists have faced oppression for 17 years while people were denied their right to vote freely.
She said hundreds of cases were filed against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and grassroots leaders.
“Even for a family funeral, people had to attend in shackles after getting parole,” she added.
“There was a time when no one was ready to hold the BNP banner. Now that time has changed. But we must not forget those who stood by the party during difficult days,” she said.
Rumeen said if elected MP from Sarail-Ashuganj, she would turn the area into a model police station, ensure gas supply to every household and arrange training for youth to make them self-reliant.
The meeting was presided over by Union Torun Dal President Azim Rana. District BNP leaders Zahirul Islam and ABM Mominul Haque were present as special guests.
