Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has denied issuing a press release that recently went viral on social media, allegedly bearing the name of its Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

The statement, which circulated widely on Facebook and was picked up by some media outlets, listed 11 affiliated organizations as official wings of the BNP while warning against unauthorized use of the party’s name by other groups.

The release claimed that many organizations were being formed using the names of former President Ziaur Rahman, the Zia family, and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman without official approval. It further declared that the BNP would not take responsibility for any activities or positions claimed under such groups.

However, BNP officials have categorically denied issuing the notice and called it fake.

Speaking to Banglanews24, BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed, “The party has not released any such statement, and Ruhul Kabir Rizvi did not sign any press release of this kind. It did not originate from any official party channel — not through email, WhatsApp group, or a press briefing.”

The alleged statement had listed organizations such as Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, Sramik Dal, Krishak Dal, Mohila Dal, Olama Dal, Matsyajibi Dal, Tanti Dal, Muktijoddha Dal, and JASAS as the only officially recognized BNP bodies.

The BNP has urged everyone not to be misled by such misinformation and advised the media and the public to verify any statement before circulating or publishing it.

“We request all concerned to double-check the authenticity of information, especially when it involves the party’s position or leadership,” the party added in a statement.

Party sources say they are monitoring the situation and may take legal steps against those responsible for spreading the fake document.
