BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said that those who seek to bring about a revolution, transform society, and improve the condition of the common people must be organizationally strong.
“Those who want to bring about a revolution today, change society, and improve the condition of the common people must strengthen their organization. They must make it more robust,” Fakhrul said.
He made the remarks while speaking at a commemoration held in honor of the late leftist politician and author Badruddin Umar at the Bangla Academy’s Sahitya Bisharad Auditorium in Dhaka. Umar, who served as president of the Jatiya Mukti Council, passed away on September 7 at the age of 93.
Highlighting the importance of organization in political movements, Fakhrul said, “From my personal experience, a revolution only succeeds when there is an organization in place. The frustration we see today is primarily due to a lack of organization. A revolution cannot happen without a revolutionary organization.”
He also said, “I didn’t have many opportunities to interact with Comrade Umar. He never compromised on his ideals and struggles until his last day. We in politics hold him in great respect for that.”
The commemoration began with a minute of silence, followed by a performance of the Communist International song and a documentary screening. The event was organized by the Badruddin Umar Shoksabha Jatiya Committee, presided over by Faiezul Hakim, convener of the committee and secretary of the Jatiya Mukti Council. Eminent politicians, academics, and professionals also participated.
