DHAKA: A Dhaka court Sunday sent Jatiyatabadi Swechchasebak Dal president Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel to jail rejecting his bail petition.

Metropolitan Magistrates Rezaul Karim and Anwar Sadat passed the order after hearing on his bail petitions.

Court custody Officer-in Charge Murad Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Sohel’s lawyer Mosharraf Hossain moved for the petition.

Earlier in the day, Sohel surrendered before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court and sought bail in 13 cases.

The leader was accused in four cases with Motijheel Thana, four with Paltan Thana, three with Shahbagh Thana and two with Ramna Thana.

Ten cases out of 13 were filed against Sohel with the allegation of violence during Hefazat-Islam’s program at Motijheel’s Shapla Chattar area last May 10.

The three cases were filed with the allegation of violence during hartal.
