Khaleda demands election again

DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Saturday said another free and fair election is immediately necessary for the sake of the country’s democracy.

“The 19-party alliance and many other small parties did not take part in the last election, where majorities were elected uncontested. So, the government is illegal government without people’s mandate,” she said.

The former premier came up with the assertion while addressing the council of Jatiyabadi Sramikdal at the Engineers’ Institute in the city.

Khaleda Zia said, “The country’s (bad) condition prevails as it has no democracy, rules of law is absent here; people who talk true, protest crimes have been disappeared, some of those are found dead.”

She also observed that people’s lives are not secured either be it inside home or outside except the Awami League men, she added.

Earlier Kahleda inaugurated the council by hoisting national flag and releasing pigeons as symbol of peace, at 11:45am.
