RMCH to be university soon: Nasim

RAJSHAHI: Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim on Saturday declared to turn Rajshahi Medical College Hospital into university.

Nasim, also ruling Awami League lawmaker, announced to open ‘Burn Unit’ at the hospital within next seven days.

The minister came up with the announcement in a view exchange meeting at the auditorium of RMCH in the noon.

Nasim said, “All the required formal processes to turn the medical college into university will begin within June and the institution will be named Shaheed AHM Quamruzzaman.

He also said, “This is the largest medical institution of north Bengal … this is why a burn unit will be opened here within next seven days.”

He also promised to convey all necessary equipments to RMCH within seven days.

The minister also promised for modern equipments for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital and a help of Tk 20 crore for renovation and addition of necessary equipments.

Forewarning the doctors against calling strike, Nasim urged them to serve people.

With former mayor of Rajshahi Khairuzzaman Liton in the chair, central politburo member of Workers Party Fazle Hossain Badshah MP, Professor Abdul Khaleque, BMA president Professor Mahmud Hasan, director of RMCH Brigadier General AKM Nasir Uddin and deputy director ASM Barkatullah were among others present at the function.
