Gayeshwar exempted after apologize

DHAKA: The High Court on Sunday exempted BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and two leaders of Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) from the allegation of contempt of court after seeking unconditional apology to it.

An HC bench comprising Justice Kazi Reza-ul-Haque and Justice ABM Altaf Hossain passed the order dissolving the suo motu rule previously issued against them.

The two DAB leaders are- Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) Vice-president Dr M Salam and its General Secretary Dr AZM Jahid Hossain.

On April 7, the same HC bench summoned them to appear before it on April 20.

The court also issued a suo motu order to explain why contempt of court charge should not be brought against them.

On April 6, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy at a human chain organised by DAB in front of the National Press Club said that made comment that Judge Court, High Court, and Supreme Court–all the courts are confined in pocket of Mujib Coat and none will get justice if the pocket is not torn.”
