BNP starts mass hunger strike

DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) started countrywide mass hunger strike on Sunday protesting ‘forced disappearance-killings’. 

 

The demonstration began with the recitation from holy verses of Quran at National Press Club in capital around 9:15am and wil continue till 5:00pm while party leaders and activists of districts, upazilas and metropolitan levels are also observing hunger strike.

 

BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Vice Chairman Mirza Abbas, Publicity Secretary and former BNP Chief Whip Joynal Abdin Farroque already joined the programme. 

 

Chairperson of the party Khaleda Zia is likely to join the mass hunger strike at 4:00pm to express her solidarity.
