JHENIDAH: Sramik Oikkya Parishad called daylong hartal for Tuesday in the district protesting killing of general secretary of district Bus-Minibus Workers’ Union.

President of the Oikkya Parishad Habibur Rahman made the hartal announcement at 12:00pm Monday.

Abdul Gaffar Biswas, 43, general secretary of Jhenaidah Bus-minibus workers union, was chopped to death by miscreants in Arappur area of the district town early Monday.

Sadar Thana Sub-Inspector Shahriar Rahman told banglanews, “Miscreants attacked him with lethal weapon around 4:00am, leaving him critically injured.”

Later, he was rushed to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital where doctor declared him dead.

On the other hand, following the incident agitating workers stopped all type of bus-minibus services from 8:00am which created immense passenger sufferings.
