DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Monday has extended bail to BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and another top four leaders till June 17.

Metropolitan Magistrate Anwar Sadat passed the order after Fakhrul and four others appear before the court and sought bail extension.

The rest of his cohorts are BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Dhaka city BNP convener Sadek Hossain Khoka, Member Secretary of the party Abdus Salam and president of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) Abdul Kader Bhuiyan Jewel.

The court also directed the BNP leaders to appear before it on that day.

They were accused in two cases for vandalizing, torching vehicles, creating violence and killing during hartal days in December last year.

Mirza Fakhrul’s lawyer Zainul Abedin Mejbah confirmed the matter to banglanews.
