N’ganj-5 by-polls Jun 26 likely

DHAKA: The by-election in vacant Narayanganj-5 constituency is likely to be held on June 26.

The Election Commission will announce the schedule on Monday afternoon.

On Monday noon, in an emergency meeting held at the Election Commission secretariat, the decision on announcement of poll-schedule declaration had come.

With Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rafik Uddin in the chair, the meeting was also attended by two commissioners Brigadier General (Retd) Jabed Ali, Abdul Mubarrak.

The constituency fell vacant following the death of Parliament Member Nasim Osman, also Presidium Member of Jatiya Party at an Indian Hospital on April 30.
