BD-OIC ties to continue: FM AH Mahmood Ali

DHAKA: Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali said Bangladesh enjoys the closest of ties with the OIC members and these ties will continue to be fostered through regular dialogue, understanding and cooperation.

The foreign minister came up with the observation while addressing a gathering of OIC ambassadors from the Middle East and North Africa based in Dhaka on Monday.  

State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam, Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque and other senior officials of the ministry were present at the briefing. 

The ambassadors and envoys of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Palestine, Egypt, Morocco and Libya attended the briefing.   

The minister exchanged views with the OIC ambassadors on the overall political and economic situation in Bangladesh in the aftermath of the 10th parliamentary elections held on 05 January.   

He also thanked the Muslim countries for their steadfast support to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government in achieving a seamless democratic transfer of power through the elections.
