DHAKA: Sons of detained Jamaat leaders Kamaruzzaman and Quader Mollah and five other persons who were arrested late Wednesday during protests against the leaders’ remand hearings were remanded Thursday for interrogation.
Hasan Imam, son of Kamaruzzaman, Hasan Jamil, son of Quader Mollah, and his two sons-in-law named Jahirul Islam and Mohibulla and three other Jamaat activists were placed on two days’ remand.
The sons and sons-in-law of Jamaat leaders and the three activists--Mashfur Rahman Jitu, Mushfiqur Rahman and Nurul Haq--were produced before court with a police prayer for 7 days’ remand on charge letting loose “chaos” during Kamaruzzaman and Kader Mollah’s remand hearings.
Metropolitan magistrate AGM Al Masud took the hearings and approved the remand.
Kotwali OC Salahuddin said, “Seven persons were arrested Wednesday, including two sons of Jamaat leaders.”
He added: “They were engaged in creating chaos.”
The seven were shown arrested under section 54.
