Khaleda demands polls under CG

MUNSHIGANJ: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday categorically demanded to quit after forming neutral caretaker government immediately.

“The incumbent government is illegal as they do not mandate of the people. So, they have to quit after forming neutral caretaker government immediately,” she said.

She was addressing a mammoth rally at Laxmiganj Launchghat ground here in the evening.

BNP Chairperson also categorically said Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has to be disbanded as they are involved in killings and abduction.

“The government has destroyed the RAB by using politically and the force has to be disbanded as they are involvement in killings and abduction across the country,” she said.

Khaleda Zia said she does not want to go profitable politics and demanded a participatory election under the neutral government.

She alleged that the government is using elite force RAB to repress BNP and mass people. “The government has spoiled the main objectives of the RAB,” she said.

“So, we demand to disband the elite force as it has created panic among the people as like cancer,” she told her audience.

The BNP chief alleged banned Islamic outfit Jamatul Mujaheedin Bangladesh (JMB) Chief Abdur Rahman was the relative of Awami League leader Mirza Azam not closest to BNP. The Awami League patronized the terrorist activities by the JMB, she added.

Khaleda Zia said the government destroyed country’s largest economic sector garment industry. As a result, the economic condition of the country has remained in the dark.

Terming former military ruler HM Ershad as killer Khaleda said Ershad extended his hand with the illegal government as he has no political character.

Khaleda mentioned Sheikh Hasina congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi by writing letter as Modi elected prime minister by securing two-third majority as like Hasina.

Protesting Hasina’s comment, she said, “Modi elected by securing majority but not you. You elected only illegal way.”

She disclosed that around 320 BNP leaders and activists were victim of force disappearance and killing all over the country.

On Thursday at a press conference Khaleda urged the government to form an investigation committee led by a former chief justice on protesting killing, forced disappearance and abduction incidents across the country.

Earlier, the rally started at 3:30pm by reciting from the holy Quran protesting killing, forced disappearance and abduction and corruption across the country.

Khaleda Zia left Dhaka at 2:45pm for Munshiganj.

BNP Organizing Secretary Fazlul Haq Milon, Munshiganj BNP President Abdul Hye, general secretary Asgar Mallik and Sadar Upazila BNP President Mohiuddin Ahmed attended the meeting.
