5 BNP-Jamaat activists held in CoxÔÇÖs Bazar

Cox’s Bazar: Police Friday arrested a BNP leader and four Jamaat activists from Banglabazar area in Sadar upazila for bringing out protest procession after Jum’a prayers.

The arrested persons are Moktarkul ward BNP President Nazmul Haq and Jamaat activists Abdullah, Mohammad Sohel, Mizanur Rahman and Shahabuddin.

Assistant Police Super (ASP) of Cox’s Bazar model thana MM Salahuddin told banglanews24.com.bd that police arrested two persons from Banglabazar after Jum’a for taking out procession. Later, three others were nabbed on the same charge.

But, district Jamaat leaders claimed police arrested seven persons.

Cox’s Bazar district Jamaat Ameer Muhammad Shahjahan told banglanews24.com.bd that ‘musullis’ brought out a procession from Banglabazar Jame Masjid after Jum’a prayers.

Police arrested seven persons from the procession, staged against government’s alleged wrongdoings. Three of them are Jamaat activists while two BNP leaders and two other general devotees, he said.
