Tarique blames Hasina for killing Zia

KUA LULUMPUR (MALAYSIA): BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman on Wednesday claimed that Sheikh Hasina was aware about killing of Ziaur Rahman.

“Ziaur Rahman was killed after 17 days of Sheikh Hasina had returned home. Why was she fleeing country after Zia had been killed,” he said.

He came up with the allegation while addressing a rally in the evening, at Dewan Tun Razzaque-2 auditorium at Putra, arranged commemorating the 33rd death anniversary of BNP founder late President Ziaur Rahman.

Tarique Rahman also urged the party-men to give position to the competent leaders and activists.

The BNP leader told his audience that they are well here as Sheikh Hasina is not here. “I am not bad,” he said.

Malaysia expatriate leaders and activists urged Tarique to solve party’s crisis.

Earlier, the rally started through signing the party’s song.

Shahid Ullah, president of a fraction of Malaysia BNP, said they have arranged the meeting on the occasion of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman’s 33rd death anniversary.

On the other hand, some print media reports claimed that the meeting has been fixed to collect mass signature from expatriate Bangladeshis to disband elite force RAB which has already attracted much criticism in Bangladesh.

Party insiders hope that Tarique will remove factional problems of Malaysia BNP by the meeting.

Tarique Rahman has arrived Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur en route to Singapore from London.

Tarique Rahman, who was arrested on March 7, 2007, two months after Fakhruddin Ahmed’s caretaker government took over, alleges that he was seriously tortured in custody.

He looked pale and seriously ill during his release on bail and departure from the country on September 3, 2008.

Being released from prison, with the country had been heading towards an election to end a military-back two years rule, Tarique and his family went to London

He, however, looked healthy when he joined a number of political programs in London in last few months to make some “controversial” comments.
