Ershad slams govt, 5 Jan polls

LALMONIRHAT: Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad on Wednesday categorically said the January 5 poll is “valueless” as his party did not take part in the elections.

“I didn’t participate in the 10th parliamentary election and my party was participated disobeying my order. So, there was no value of the election,” he said.

The former President of the country made the observation while addressing a rally at Chaparhat High School of Kaliganj upazila in the district.

Ershad also said, “I didn’t know how I became a MP without participating in the elections. Voters gave me 5000 vote in Lalmonirhat-2 constituency making me candidate and I was insulted. Answer of all questions will come out in future.”

He added: “They sent me to the hospital though I was not sick, none could meet me there, restrict all communication system.”

The JP chief also said who were beside me, including my brother, in the crucial moment, he would assess them later.

In the programme, Ershad declared Rokon Uddin Bablu, newly joined in the party from Lalmonirhat-2, as next election candidate.

JP Chairmen said people are not in peace as they being murdered in the house and kidnapped when they go out. Bank robbery becomes the common phenomena in the country.

So, the people of the country don’t want this government anymore. The country needs Jatiya Party government, he also added. 

Jatiya Party conveyer and presidium member Golam Mohammad Kader presided over the programme where Joint conveyer Khaza Main Uddin of district JP, member secretary professor AKM Mahbubul Alam and Joint secretary MG Mostafa were among others present at the programme.
