DHAKA: The new committee of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Dhaka metropolitan unit has been formed on Friday night.                      

Standing committee member Mirza Abbas selected as convener and Swechchhasebak Dal President Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel as member secretary of the fresh committee.     

BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the 53-members convener committee at party’s central office Nayapaltan on Friday night.

Standing committee member ASM Hannan Shah, Barrister Shafiqul Islam, Vice-Chairman Sadek Hossain Khoka and economic affairs secretary Abdus Salam have been appointed as adviser of the new committee.

Six joint-conveners of the committee are Abdul Awal Mintoo, Salah Uddin Ahmed, Kazi Abul Bashar, Nasir Uddin Ahmed Pintu, MA Kaiyum and Sayeed Khan Khokan.

Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal and Abul Khayer Bhuiyan were alos enlisted in the new committee.

In the programme, BNP office secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said all ward and Thana committees will be formed by one month. Following this, the full committee of city unit would be pronounced.

Earlier, city BNP committee was formed on May 14, 2011 with Sadeque Hossain Khoka as its convener and Abdus Salam as member secretary.  

That committee was asked to form the ward and thana committees within six months but they failed.
