Silent censorship on Media: Fakhrul

DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the government imposing silent censorship over the media.

He disclosed this while attending a discussion on occasion of 57th anniversary of National Awami Party (Nap Bhashani) at national press club on Wednesday.

Pointing at the comment of Awami League minister Sayed Mohsin Ali’s remarks that they would introduce a law which would hinder the freedom of press, the BNP leader said the law will decrease the power of media.

Fakhrul said AL always tells about democracy but they didn’t practice it. They snatched people’s right. AL stopped media’s voice establishing ‘Bakshal’.

Advocate Azharul Islam, chairman of the organizer committee, presided over the programme.
