NOAKHALI: Miscreants slaughtered Hazi Yusuf Ali Selim, district Awami League treasurer, to death in Titarkandi area under Sadar upazila of Lakshmipur district on Sunday night.

50-year-old Yusuf, who was also known as Nishat Selim, was the son of late Tazul Islam of Titarkandi village.  He resided in Maijdee Housing area of Noakhali town and was the owner of ‘Nishat Biponee Bitan’ there.

Noakhali district superintendent of police Illias Sharif confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Police sources said, “Yusuf went his village home to distribute Zakat clothes; having finished the clothe distribution, he was returning to Noakhali riding on a motorcycle of one of his associates. On arrival in the area, miscreants exploded bombs in front of the motorbike.”

At that time he fell down on the road and then miscreants slaughtered him.

Locals brought the body to Noakhali General Hospital, later police it sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy, Illias said.
