DHAKA: Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman HM Ershad on Saturday threatened of waging movement on streets against the incumbent government.
“We will take position to streets if necessary. We will continue to place the failure of the government before the people,” he said.
The former president of the country came up with the assertion while addressing a view exchange meeting with the party leaders of its Shariatpur district unit at JP’s Banani office in the city.
He said, “This government failed to ensure security of people’s lives and property. So, they (government) have no rights to hold the power.”
The image of Bangladesh is tarnished due to murders and forced disappearances, he observed.
Ershad added: “The movement will be in a democratic way, no vehicle will be torched, and none will be killed.”
With Shariatpur district unit president Advocate Masudur Rahman in the chair, the function was addressed, among others, by JP secretary general Ziauddin Bablu, presidium member Mir Abdus Sabur Asud, press and political secretary Sunil Shuvo.
