Pay Tuba workers from PM fund

DHAKA: Bangladesh nationalist Party (BNP) vice chairman Abdullah Al Noman on Monday urged Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina to pay salary to Tuba workers from her fund.

The BNP leader made the plea while speaking at a human chain program organized by Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal demanding the payment of due salaries and bonuses for Tuba workers.

Noman claimed that “the premier extorted Tk 127 crore from different organizations in the name of Rana Plaza and Tazreen Fashion disasters but you gave an accountability of only Tk 27 crore, he added.

The BNP leader urged the premier to pay the Tuba workers from the rest amount of the money.

He also threatened the government for enforcing nationwide movement if the due salaries and bonuses are not paid by August 6.

Criticizing the garment owners’ organization named Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), he said the organization does not care about workers’ interest.

Among other BNP leaders, Mohammad Zafrul Hasan, Nurul Islam Khan and Manzurul Islam attended the program.
