FENI: A leader of Jatiyatabadi Swechchasebok Dal was hacked to death by assailants in the district on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Monir Hossain, 35, general secretary of Baligaon union Swechchasebok Dal unit of Sadar upazila.

Locals told banglanews that earlier Monir was forcibly picked up by miscreants.

Later, he was found critically injured in Hindupara area under Bishnupur union of Sonagazi upazila, they added.

However, locals rushed Monir to the Sonagazi upazila health complex and doctor later advised to shift him to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

Monir succumbed to his injuries during this shifting.

District Swechchasebok Dal unit general secretary Saidur Rahman Jewel confirmed the matter.
