FENI: District BNP observed the half-day hartal in the district on Thursday protesting murder of Monir Hossain, general secretary of Baligaon union Swechhasebak Dal.

Sources said that a procession was brought out led by district Chhatra Dal president Noimulla Barat around 8:00am. Later, police dispersed them.

Chhatra Dal activists were seen picketing in various spots of the district town. Meanwhile, the picketers hurled some cocktails.

Later, all types of vehicles started the services after 1:00pm.

Police detained a Chhatra Dal man named Zillur Rahman as he tried to set fire to an auto-rickshaw.

Feni Model Thana Officer-in-Charge Mahbub Morshed said that additional police forces had been deployed in various key points of the town to avert any untoward situations.

Earlier on Tuesday, District Swechhasebak Dal President Kopil Uddin Mamun declared the hartal in a rally before the Namaz-e-Janaza of Monir Hossain.
