FENI: A leader of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, youth unit of BNP, died here in police custody early Friday.

The deceased was identified as Yatim Ali Miyadhan, 37, son of a late Abdul Gafur, residing in Shridharpur village under Dagonbhuiyan upazila of the district and also the Ward Jubo Dal secretary of that area.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Feni Jail Super Didarul Alam said that Yatim died undergoing treatments at Feni Sadar Hospital around 3am.

Duty doctor, also the resident physician of the hospital, Golam Mawla informed that police brought the prisoner at 1:30am.

The man who was suffering from chest pain for last couple of days according to the jail authority, later died undergoing treatments, doctor added.

He said “Yatim died of heart attack”.

However, Jubo Dal leader Yatim’s wife Hazera Khatun and party men claimed that he was killed in police custody for excessive torture during remands in phases.
