PM pays tributes to Chumki’s mother

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid rich tributes to Bilkis Moyezuddin, mother of Women and Children Affairs state minister Meher Afroz Chumki, visiting her residence on Saturday noon.

Hasina stood in solemn silence awhile beside the body of Bilkis and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul, said PM's Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury.

She also passed some times with the bereaved family members, talked to them and consoled them.

Bilkis Moyezuddin breathed her last at a city’s hospital at 11:15pm on Friday after suffering from cancer for long.

Her husband Md Moyezuddin, a former lawmaker and one of the organizers of Independence War in 1971, was a close associate of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Bilkis was survived by five daughters and a son.
