City AL leader shot dead

DHAKA: Miscreants shot a ward Awami League leader to death on Saturday late night in BNP Bazar area in West Agargaon of the city.

The deceased was identified as Jahangir Alam, 35, president of ward no. 41 Awami League.

The reason behind the killing could not yet be known.

The incident took place at 11:30pm.

Confirming the matter, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Thana Duty Officer Shamsul Alam said that miscreants attacked the Awami League leader around 11:30pm, leaving him injured.

Later, the police added, Jahangir succumbed to his injuries at the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR), popularly known as Pangu Hospital.
