BNP man slaughtered in Benapole

JESSORE: A BNP activist has been slaughtered by unknown assailants in Putkhali under Benapole Port Thana of the district on Sunday late night.

The deceased was identified as Shamim, 35, residing in that village.

Locals told banglanews that there were a long dispute between some locals and Shamim’s follower on handling smuggling in the area and fishponds.

Shamim might have been killed in this connection, they suspected.

Confirming the matter, Benapole Port Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Apurbo Hasan said that after being informed from locals on Monday morning, police rushed to the spot and sent the body to the Jessore Medical College Hospital Morgue for autopsy.

However, deceased’s wife Sharmin Akhter has already filed a case in this connection with the Benapole Port Thana mentioning name of four locals, the OC added.

The accused are -- Shah Jamal, son of Kawsar Ali, Chabdar Ali, son of Momin, Kamal, son of Golam and Ujjal, son of Mannan.
