Sylhet BCL infighting injures 10

SYLHET: At least 10 activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) were injured in a clash between two groups over establishing supremacy in Tajpur area under Osmaninagar upazila of the district on Saturday.

Witnesses told banglanews that local leaders and activists of the student wing of ruling Awami League locked into clashes around 4:00pm that left 10 activists injured.

Source said the supporters of upazila BCL unit leaders Abdal Hossain and Chanchal locked into the clash over establishing supremacy.

Locals said there was a longstanding dispute between the two groups. Over establishing supremacy, their supporters locked into another clashes later around 6:00pm.

However, tension prevailed in the area following the clashes, said a spot account of the incident.

Osmaninagar Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Juber Ahmed said additional law enforcers were deployed to avert the further untoward situation.
