Hasina involved in Zia killing: Rizvi

DHAKA: BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Sunday claimed that Prime Mistier Sheikh Hasina involved in the killing of Ziaur Rahman, former President of the country and BNP founder.

He said, “Awami League was seen defiantly cheering after Zia had been assassinated. It seems that she (Hasina) along with others involved in the killing.”

The BNP leader was addressing a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in the city.

He also termed the premier’s remarks over ‘Zia involved in the Bangabandhu killing’ as ‘false and fabricated’.

Rizvi said, “Zia was killed 13 days after Hasina had been returned home and she tried to flee the country through border.”

He also alleged BNP was also barred Saturday from bringing out countrywide black flag processions expressing solidarity to the Palestine people.

The BNP leader told the journalists that BNP-led 20-party alliance would hold rallies across the country, including the city’s Suhrawardy Udyan at 3:00pm on August 19 protesting the National Broadcast Policy.
