DHAKA: BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday said the mentality of ruling Awami League is destroying the country.
The spokesperson for the party came up with the assertion at a program at the National Press Club.
An organization called ‘Dainik Amar Desh Paribar’ arranged the program marking the 500-day imprisonment of Bangla daily Amar Desh acting editor Mahmudur Rahman.
Mirza Fakhrul said once the people of the country loved and recognized Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as an undisputed leader.
However, the scenario has been changed now due to the mentality and behavior of the ruling Awami League.
He also said the country is being destroyed as Awami League thinks that they are all in all in the country.
The BNP leader said the ruling party blames BNP and other oppositions for the grenade attack of August 21. “It is a trick of them to keep away BNP from election and politics,” he said.
He asked his party leaders and activists to stage demonstrations against the government.
There is no other way without the protest, he added.
Senior political leaders and prominent journalists were present in the program.
