Tarique to be brought under trial

DHAKA: Food Minister Quamrul Islam on Saturday said BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman would be brought under trial for his alleged involvement in 21 August grenade attack.

The food minister came up with the assertion while addressing a program marking National Mourning Day at Dhanmondi in city in the afternoon.

He alleged that the mastermind of the grenade attack was Tarique Rahman. The statements of one of the accused Mufti Hannan made it clear, he added.

The lawmaker said the same fate is waiting for Tarique that happened with the killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The trial completion is a must, he added.

Quamrul also criticized the activities of former president and also BNP founder Ziaur Rahman for his activities.

He commented said that Zia was responsible for the killing of Bangabandhu.

Senior leaders of the ruling party were also present at the program, chaired by Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas MP.
