DHAKA: Food Minister Quamrul Islam on Sunday said the trial of BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman would be held in this land shortly for his alleged involvement in August 21 grenade attack.

He also said former president and also BNP founder Ziaur Rahman was responsible for the killing of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family.

He came up with the assertion while addressing a meeting held at the National Press Club.

Bangabandhu Sainik League of Dhaka City (south) arranged the program.

Quamrul Islam said the evil power, responsible for the massacre during country’s war of independence, killing in August 15 and grenade attacks on August 21, should be prevented.

People of the country will also prevent the wrongdoers, he added.

Other senior leaders of the party were also present at the program.
