LONDON: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman termed Awami League as a ‘black sheep’ party.
The leader made the comment while addressing a professionals’ meeting titled ‘Strategy for Prosperous Bangladesh’ in East London’s Queen Mary University on 6:30 pm (local time) Sunday.
He blamed a section of Awami League leaders and Jatiyo Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) for the incident of before and after August 15.
In the program, Tarique also termed the incumbent government illegal adding that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina doing politics with them who are involved in her father’s killing.
The BNP leader also blamed Colonel Taher and JSD for making the plot of Bangabandhu killing.
Pointing at the conflict between Sheikh Mujib and Inu, Tarique said that to prevent the arrival of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Dhaka University, Inu equipped his forces who now the member of Sheikh Hasina’s cabinet. To deal with Inu forces Sheikh Mujib asked Quader Siddiki to deploy tanks.
Citing the incident of August 21 as pre-planned by AL, he said Hasina shifted the venue to Bangabandhu Avenue from Mukta Manch as she was informed about the grenade attack.
Dr MA Malek, teacher of Kadif University, presided over the meeting.
