DHAKA: A Dhaka court has fixed September 18 for indictment hearing against 129 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatra Shibir in a case of vandalism demanding release of War Crimes suspect Delawar Hossain Sayedee.
Magistrate Tarek Moinul Islam Bhuiyan of the Dhaka's Speedy Trial Tribunal-6 passed the deferment order on Wednesday as former Shibir president Dr Fakhruddin Manik, prime accused of the case, was not produce before the court.
The court also jail authority to produce Dr Fakhruddin Manik before it on the day.
The case was filed with Paltan thana against 129 people, including two former president of Chhatra Shibir---Delwar Hossain and Dr Fakhruddin Manik--under sections 4 and 5 of Speedy Trial Act 2002.
On February 13 last year, some Jamaat supporters vandalized and torched vehicles in Motijheel, Dilkusha, Dainik Bangla, Fakhirapool areas and create anarchy among locals demanding release of Sayedee. .
On Tuesday, a Dhaka court has framed charges against 154 people including Jamaat-e-Islami executive council member Shafikul Islam Masud and its former student front president Delwar Hossain in a case of vandalism filed with Matijheel thana.
