PM intended political remedy for BDR mutiny bypassing military action, says Hannan Shah

Dhaka: BNP leader ASM Hannan Shah Friday fulminated that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina intended a “political solution” of the BDR mutiny sidetracking a better option like military action as a fit remedy for the desperate malady.

“Chiefs of the three services were in front of Hasina during the mutiny and she could dispose of the rebellion through military action,” said the opposition party standing committee member at roundtable.

Jatiya Ganotantrik Party (Jagpa) organized the discussion titled “Pilkhana killings, Farcical charge sheet: Target Bangladesh” at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) auditorium.

Hanna Shah also alleged the government has implicated Nasir Uddin Pintu in the BDR mutiny case out of vendetta.

“The politics of Awami League is to destroy the Army for serving interest of India,” said the ex-army officer in a blistering criticism.

Opposition chief whip Joynul Abdin Farroque, NDP chairman Golam Mortuza, Islami Oikya Jote secretary-general Abdul Latif Nezami and Jagpa general secretary Lutfar Rahman attended the meeting with Jagpa president Shafiul Alam Prodhan in the chair.
