MP Badi’s bail denied

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Thursday denied the bail petition filed by Abdur Rahman Badi, elected from Cox's Bazar-4 constituency, in a case for his alleged involvement in attaining illegal assets.

Dhaka Senior Special Judge Jahurul Haque passed the order in the afternoon.

Earlier in the day, the hearing on bail petition was held at the court in the morning.

On October 12, Metropolitan Magistrate Maruf Hossain of Dhaka sent MP Abdur Rahman Badi to jail.

On August 21, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Khairul Huda and Abdus Sobahan filed the case with Ramna Thana against him.

On September 11, he appeared before the High Court and sought bail and then the court granted four weeks’ bail to him.

Later, on Sunday, appearing before the court, he again sought bail but the court sent him to jail.

According to the statement, Enamul had a profit of Tk 84 lakh after paying the tax while he paid Tk 87 lakh as income tax that is not realistic.

The sources said Enamul and his wife Tuhura Haque submitted their wealth statements of over Tk 8.34 crore. But they technically avoided the information regarding their ownership on some limited companies, proprietorship and partnership on enterprises.

Enamul also hid the information including Saleha-Imarat Cold Storage, Ena-Dunga Leasing, Northern Power Solution Limited, Ena International, Ena Cars and Ena Energy.
