DHAKA: International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 fixed Wednesday for pronouncing its verdict in war crimes case against Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami.

ICT-1 Chairman Justice M Enayetur Rahim will lead the three-member tribunal. The other two members are Justice Anwarul Haque and Justice Jahangir Hossain.

Earlier the tribunal put the verdict on CAV (Curia advisari vult, a Latin term for legal affairs literally means “the court wishes to be advised” used when court awaits verdict) as the trial proceedings ended on March 24.

On June 29, 2010, Nizami was arrested after a magistrate court in Dhaka had issued an arrest warrant in connection with a criminal case over hurting religious sentiment of Muslims.

Later on July 22 in 2010, the tribunal shown him arrested in the war crimes case.

On May 28, 2012, the tribunal indicted the Jamaat Ameer for his alleged involvement in crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
