DHAKA: Indicating the incumbent government, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir claimed that evil forces grab the country.

The senior BNP leader came up with the observation while addressing a discussion titled “October 28 tragedy, 2006, stand against AL repression” organized by National Democratic Party (NDP) on Tuesday.

Fakhrul said, “We will resist the incumbent government through movement to protect the country’s independence and sovereignty as well as to retrieve democracy.”

He claimed that the Awami League-led government did not work for the development of the country. Moreover, they have lost foreign labor market.

Mentioning the three agreements recently inked with United Arab Emirate (UAE), the spokesperson for the party said they (deals) were signed earlier.

Fakhrul also claimed that the incumbent government began conspiracy from December 28, 2006. The elections in 2008 and January 5, 2014 were held as a part of the conspiracy.

Criticizing the government, he said the AL has been trying to establish ‘BAKSAL’ in a different way.

He added: “The government is giving priority to the development works than democracy as they have no respect to the law. Bangladesh now in severe crisis as the AL has no trust on democracy.”

“We have to save the country from this crisis as not only the BNP activists also the common people are facing murder and kidnapping,” he said.

He urged all to be united to protect the country.

NDP general secretary Lutfor Rahman, its leader Zafar Ullah, Kalyan Party chairman Major General (retd) Syed Muhammad Ibrahim, Labor Party chairman Dr Mostafizul Rahman Iran, among others, were present at the discussion chaired by NDP president Shafiul Alam Prodhan.
