DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also ruling Awami League president, will address a press conference on Thursday about the outcomes of her recent visit in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Confirming the matter, PM’s press wing said the press conference will be held around 4:30pm at Ganabhaban, official residence of the premier.

Earlier on Monday night, the premier returned home after a three-day visit in UAE.

Sources said a memorandum of understanding (MoU) inked between Bangladesh Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) and Amala group, a UAE manpower recruiting agency.

According to the treaty, UAE government will recruit Bangladeshi women of 14 professions.

Significant progress was made in several sectors, including the enhancement of Bangladesh labor marker in UAE. A labor attaché will be appointed in UAE Embassy to Dhaka in this regard.

During a meeting with Dubai Port World Authority chairman Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulaiman, PM called him to survey the prosperity of establishing a deep seaport in Patuakhali’s Paira area.

She also asked to setup a special economic zone, a 150km marine driveway from Chittagong’s Mirsharai to Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf and a well-equipped airport.

In response to Hasina’s request, Dubai Port World chairman assured her saying that they will send a delegation to Bangladesh.

During the visit, Bangladesh and UAE also signed treaties on security cooperation, prisoner exchange and handing over land for construction of UAE embassy in Dhaka.

Hasina also met vice-president and prime minister of UAE Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and prince and also foreign minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The PM also joined a reception ceremony by Bangladesh expatriates living in UAE during the visit.
