DHAKA: The government will make a new list of ‘Razakars’, and anti-liberation forces, who were the members of the paramilitary force organized by the Pakistan Army in the then East Pakistan during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971.

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque made the disclosure on Thursday morning while addressing a anti-hartal rally organized by Muktijoddha Projonmo League at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city.

Muktijoddha Projonmo League, however, arranged the rally before an anti-hartal procession protesting the Jamaat-e-Islami’s three-day hartal against the verdict of Motiur Rahman Nizami’s capital punishment on the charges of crimes against humanity during Liberation War.

The minister also said that a list of Razakars will be prepared following the proper list of freedom fighters.

“It is necessary to make a list of Razakars along with the list of freedom fighters as future generation will recall the contribution of freedom fighters with due respect and at the same time Razakars with hatred,” he said.

Currently, the government is preparing an accurate list of freedom fighters.
