Huji operation chief remanded

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed operation wing chief of banned Harkat-ul-Jihad (HUJI) Khairul Bashar alias Ibrahim on a six-day remand.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court Judge Mollah Saiful Alam placed the remand order after Sub-inspector (SI) SM Raisul of Detective Branch (DB) produced him before the court with a 10-day remand plea.

The court also rejected the bail plea of defendant’s lawyer Advocate Amanul Karim Liton.

Rashedul Islam of Wari Thana general register section confirmed the matter.

Earlier on Tuesday, DB personnel of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detained Ibrahim from Sayedabad area in city.

Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman of DMP media center said Ibrahim recently returned to Bangladesh after receiving training from a foreign country.
