DHAKA: The activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, a student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, allegedly blasted eight cocktails in Nayabazar area of old Dhaka and Shahzadpur area on Wednesday evening in support of hartal enforced by Jamaat-e-Islami.

Witnesses said some 15-20 Shibir activists brought out a sudden procession in Nayabazar area and blasted five cocktails to create panic among the people of the area around 6:30pm.

On information, police rushed to the spot but the pickets managed to flee the spot earlier.

In another incident at the same time, the hartal supporters blasted three cocktails at Pragati Sarani in Shazadpur area.

The law enforcers also opened fire to take the situation under control.

A witness, Sheikh Zahiduzzaman, confirmed the incident of Shazadpur blasts.

However, none were detained and injured in the incidents.
