Cops, BNP men clash injures 30 in Gazipur

GAZIPUR: At least 30 people, including six bullet-hit, were injured in a clash between law enforcers and BNP men in the city on Sunday.

The six bullet-hit injured are counselor Shirin Chaklader of Gazipur City Corporation, BNP activists Jahangir Alam, Yunus Mia, Rasheda Begum, pedestrians Joena Begum, and Bijoy Mia.

Witnesses said when the leaders and activists brought out protest a possession as a part of their central program but police obstructed.

At one stage, police locked into a clash as the BNP men hurled cocktails targeting police. Police also opened fire at them that left at least 30 people injured.

The injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Gazipur Sadar Hospital and nearby clinics.

However, police patrolling the area to avert any subversive situation.

BNP chairperson’s advisor Mayor Professor MA Mannan and district president Salauddin Sarkar of Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal, among others, spoke at the protest rally.
