Tarique again sued for sedition

SHERPUR: Another sedition case has been filed against BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman for making derogatory remarks on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

District Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) president Monirul Islam Liton filed the lawsuit with the court of District Chief Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Shariful Islam at Monday Noon.

Later, the judge took the case into cognizance and directed Sherpur Detective Branch (DC) of police to investigate into the matter.

Earlier on Sunday, a sedition case was filed against Tarique for his remarks over the same issue.

According to the case statement, Tarique, elder son of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, at the discussion in East London on November 7 ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’ said Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is the killer of pro-independence people of the country.

Terming Sheikh Mujib a ‘Pakbandhu’, he said Sheikh Mujibur always thought that Pakistan was safe (for him) though the people of Bangladesh honor him as a hero.
