18 BNP men sent to jail in Jessore

JESSORE: A Jessore court on Tuesday sent 18 leaders and activists, including general secretary Munir Ahmed Siddiki Bacchu, of district BNP unit to jail in a case filed under Anti-Terrorism Act and Explosives and Substances Act.

District senior judicial magistrate Abu Idrahim handed down the order rejecting bail petitions after they surrendered before the court.

Bagahrpar municipality BNP unit president Abdul Hye Mona and Jessore municipality councilor Anisur Rahman Mukul were among those were sent to jail.

On October 1, Kowtali police filed a case against several hundred people naming 123 BNP leader and activists following a clash between police and BNP men in front of the district press club.
